Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan pengaruh strategi pembelajaran student facilitator and explaining terhadap kemampuan mengubah grafik ke dalam bentuk paragraf deskriptif siswa kelas X SMA Swasta Methodist Lubuk Pakam Tahun Pembelajaran 2012/2013. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas SMA Swasta Methodist Lubuk Pakam sebanyak 173 orang. Sampel diambil secara acak sebanyak 40 orang, 20 orang untuk kelas eksperimen dan 20 orang untuk kelas kontrol.Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes produk mengubah grafik ke dalam bentuk paragraf deskriptif dalam bentuk produk (karya). Nilai rata-rata kelas eksperimen adalah 77,5, sedangkan untuk kelas kontrol adalah 66,25. Dengan demikian, dapat dikatakan bahwa nilai rata-rata kemampuan mengubah grafik ke dalam bentuk paragraf deskriptif kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi daripada kelas kontrol.Pengujian hipotesis dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji “t”. Dari perhitungan uji hipotesis diperoleh thitung = 6,48, selanjutnya dikonsultasikan dengan tabel t pada taraf signifikan 5% atau 1 % dengan dk = (N1 +N2) -2 = (20+20) – 2 = 38. Pada tabel t dengan dk = 38 diperoleh taraf signifikan 5% = 2,03 dan taraf signifikan 1% = 2,72. Oleh karena t0 yang diperoleh lebih besar dari ttabel, yaitu 2,03<6,48>2,72 maka hipotesis nihil (H0) ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima.Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa strategi student facilitator and explaining memberikan pengaruh yang lebih baik daripada strategi ekspositori terhadap kemampuan mengubah grafik ke dalam bentuk paragraf deskriptif
