Abstract

The research was conducted on the second year of SMA Negeri 15 Medan, North Sumatera. The effect of problem based learning integrated with cooperative learning teams games tournament on students` achievement was investigated in order to know the significance difference of students` achievement in 1st experimental class and 2nd experimental class using problem based learning model. The population is all of the students in SMA Negeri 15 Medan which was taken by purposive random sampling. The instrument used is multiple choice questions validated as much as 20 questions to measure to students` achievement and observation sheet to measure the lesson analysis. The pretest is done as a preliminary action to know the background knowledge and also to homogenize sample. After that, teaching treatment could be to carry out for both 1st experimental and 2nd experimental classes. The last step is posttest for both classes. The research data are analyzed by SPSS -17 for windows. Result of this study showed positive effects of problem based learning model integrated with cooperative learning teams games tournament on student`s achievement. It can be seen from the gain average and also proved with t-test at significant level α = 0.05, where Sig. < α (0.000 < 0.05).
