Abstract

Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran (1) Kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang belajar dengan strategi pembelajaran kontekstual lebih tinggi dari pada siswa yang belajar dengan pembelajaran konvensional serta (2) Proses jawaban kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang belajar dengan pembelajaran kontekstual lebih baik daripada pembelajaran konvensional. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian quasi eksperimen. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMA N 1 B.Purba T.A 2014/2015 semester genap pada kelas X. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 2 kelas yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Kelas eksperimen yaitu X-1menggunakan strategi kontekstual dan kelas kontrol yaitu X-2 menggunakan strategi konvensional. Kemampuan komunikasi matematis dalam penelitian ini diukur dengan menggunakan tes essay sebanyak 3 item yang telah valid dengan koefisien reliabilitas 0,4539. Nilai rata rata hasil pretest kelas eksperiment adalah 37,22 dan nilai rata rata pretest kelas kontrol adalah 45. Analisis data pretest menggunakan uji Kolmogorov-Smirnov diperoleh nilai signifikan kelas eksperimen 0,154 > 0,05 dan kelas kontrol 0,132 > 0,05 sehingga dapat disimpulkan data pretest kedua kelas normal. Hasil uji homogenitas pretest didapat nilai signifikansi 0,822 > 0,05 sehingga sampel homogen. Kemudian nilai rata rata hasil posttest kelas eksperiment adalah 75 dan nilai rata rata pretest kelas kontrol adalah 68,05. Analisis data posttest menggunakan uji Kolmogorov-Smirnov diperoleh nilai signifikan untuk kelas eksperimen 0,139 > 0,05 dan kelas kontrol 0,149 > 0,05 sehingga dapat disimpulkan data postest kedua kelas normal. Hasil uji homogenitas data posttest adalah homogen,dengan nilai signifikansi 0,379 > 0,05. Dari analisis data post-test dengan menggunakan uji-t pada taraf � = 0,05 dan df = 58 diperoleh nilai thitung = 2,079 dan ttabel = 2,000 Sehingga diperoleh thitung > ttabel (2,079 > 2,000) maka H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang belajar dengan strategi pembelajaran kontekstual lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang belajar dengan pembelajaran konvensional pada materi statistika di SMA N 1 B.Purba. Berdasarkan proses jawaban siswa, kelas yang mengikuti strategi pembelajaran kontekstual lebih baik daripada siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran konvensional.Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini strategi pembelajaran kontekstual (CTL) dapat dijadikan sebagai alternatif strategi pembelajaran yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa khususnya pada materi statistika.
