Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang pemanfaatan polipropilen daur ulang dan serat daun nanas dengan campuran aspal dan pasir dalam pembuatan komposit polimer. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi komposisi serat daun nanas dan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemakaian serat daun nanas dengan perlakuan alkali NaOH 5% terhadap karakteristik komposit polimer. Sampel dibuat dengan komposisi polipropilen daur ulang, dan aspal yang digunakan tetap yaitu 10gr, dan 10gr, sedangkan persentase komposisi divariasikan dengan perbandingan komposisi pasir dan serat daun nanas yaitu; (80:0)gr, (79:1)gr, (78:2)gr, (77:3)gr, dan (76:4)gr. Karakterisasi yang dilakukan meliputi pengujian kerapatan massa, pengujian lentur, pengujian impak, dan pengujian DTA (Differensial Thermal Analysis). Karakteristik maksimum diperoleh pada komposisi pasir, aspal, polipropilen daur ulang, dan serat daun nanas (80:10:10:0)gr dengan nilai kerapatan 1224 kg/m3, kekuatan lentur maksimum pada komposisi pasir, aspal, polipropilen daur ulang, dan serat daun nanas (76:10:10:4)gr sebesar 7,33 MPa, kekuatan impak maksimum pada komposisi pasir, aspal, polipropilen daur ulang, dan serat daun nanas (76:10:10:4)gr sebesar 8,07 kJ/m2, dan Nilai puncak endoterm dan eksoterm maksimum pada komposisi pasir, aspal, polipropilen daur ulang, dan serat daun nanas (76:10:10:4)gr sebesar 1600C dan 4600C. Sehingga dengan adanya penambahan serat daun nanas dapat menurunkan sifat fisisnya namun dapat meningkatkan sifat mekanik dan termalnya.
