Abstract

The objectives of this research are to find out: the effect of Peer Tutoring technique on students learning outcome on ecosystem topic. The study variable consist of dependent variable, student learning outcome while the independent variable was using peer tutoring technique learning in experimental class and without peer tutoring in control class. The population of this research were all regular students class X in SMA Negeri 1 Lubuk Pakam totaling 185 students. The research sample was taken by using cluster random sampling by taking two classes that have an equal opportunity to serve as sample. It was obtained the sample 33 student for experiment class and 33 students for control class. The instrument of research was students based on Bloom taxonomy, arranged in multiple choice form with 27 questions, which had been validated by expert. The research result showed that student learning outcome in experiment class was 3.5±89.4 and control class was 4.5 ± 81.5. The result of t test showed there was very significance difference of student learning outcome between experiment class and control class. It was obtained that t count= 2.935 and with &#945; = 1% and df = 64, t table = 2.66. therefore t count > t table, there are significant different of learning outcome in peer tutoring learning compared without peer tutoring learning on ecosystem topic (tcount = 2.935 ; p < 0.01).
