Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar siswa pada materi kubus dan balok dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think-Pair-Share (TPS) dengan menggunakan alat peraga di Kelas VIII-1 SMP Swasta Kesatria Medan tahun ajaran 2012/2013. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 30 siswa kelas VIII-1 SMP Swasta Kesatria Medan dan objek penelitian ini adalah model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think-Pair-Share (TPS) dengan menggunakan alat peraga pada materi kubus dan balok. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk memperoleh data adalah tes dan lembar observasi. Tes digunakan untuk mengetahui ketuntasan belajar siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal yang berkaitan dengan kubus dan balok dan lembar observasi digunakan untuk melihat proses pembelajaran dan aktivitas siswa ketika model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think-Pair-Share (TPS) diterapkan.Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa banyak siswa yang yang tuntas dalam pembelajaran mengalami peningkatan. Hasil analisis data tes awal diperoleh banyaknya siswa yang mencapai ketuntasan belajar yaitu 6 siswa (20%) dengan rata-rata kelas 53,17. Hasil analisis data pada siklus I setelah dilakukan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think-Pair-Share (TPS) menunjukkan banyaknya siswa yang mencapai ketuntasan belajar adalah 21 siswa (70%) dengan rata-rata kelas 69. Hasil analisis data akhir siklus II dengan pembelajaran yang sama diperoleh banyak siswa yang mencapai ketuntasan belajar yaitu 26 siswa (86,67%) dengan rata-rata kelas 78,5. Ini berarti terjadi peningkatan hasil belajar siswa dari tes awal ke siklus I hingga siklus II. Berdasarkan kriteria ketuntasan belajar klasikal maka pembelajaran ini telah mencapai target ketuntasan belajar. Aktivitas siswa setelah diterapkan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think-Pair-Share (TPS) adalah aktif. Ini dapat dilihat dari analisis data yang diperoleh pada siklus I dengan rata-rata 62,78% yang termasuk dalam kategori cukup aktif dan meningkat pada siklus II menjadi 78,475% yang termasuk dalam kategori aktif.Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa melalui model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think-Pair-Share (TPS), hasil belajar siswa khususnya pada materi pokok kubus dan balok dI kelas VIII-1 SMP Swasta Kesatria Medan meningkat. Saran yang diajukan yaitu guru dapat menerapkan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think-Pair-Share (TPS) sebagai alternatif dalam pembelajaran yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika siswa.
