Abstract

The development of learning module of solubility and solubility product topic for Standard International School (SBI) and Pioneer of Standard International School (RSBI) students is very interesting to be discussed and implemented, because educational issues in Indonesia facing the low quality of education at every level and educational unit. It is important, to get good and standard chemistry module in order to be used as learning media on the teaching of Solubility and Solubility Product for SBI and RSBI students that can increase student achievement that effective implemented to Senior High School students compared with textbook as media. The samples in this study were chemistry textbooks for XI grade in RSBI, chemistry teachers who were teaching XI grade in RSBI schools, chemistry lecturer of UNIMED who have done selected by purposive sampling that expert in general chemistry and XI grade students in RSBI Student of SMA Negeri 1 Medan, SMA Negeri 1 Tebing Tinggi, SMA Negeri 1 Brastagi, and XI grade students of SMA Methodist 1 Medan at even semester at academic year 2011/2012 in North Sumatera that chosen randomly. The procedure is done trough analyzing of four bilingual textbooks, then the development of learning module that standardize by the lecturers, teachers, and students and then doing trial of module for students. From the data of the instrument threre are 20 from 30 item test that are valid with rcount 0.722 > rtable 0.361, shown that those item test is reliable.The result of the using of learning module in class can increase student achievement by seeing the average of high group learning outcomes in experiment class is (75.50 ± 8.39) while for control class is (70.67 ± 7.32). For low group, average of students achievement, experiment class (68.33 ± 6.68) is higher than control class (62.83 ± 8.82). From the result of hypothesis testing, for low group tcount 2.07 > ttable, 1.319, and also for high group tcount 2.42 > ttable, 1.319. So, the conclusion is learning module is effective towards students achievement in low group and high group.
